Basic SSD-5 Standard Time System

The first SSD was programmed in 1982. There are more than 500 applications of SSD in clothing factories. The system suits to all sewing rooms from light to heavy – from underwear to upholstery. With the universal Standard Work Data extension, the system suits to all manual and tool-assisted operations in a garment factory.

SSD standard data and methods development program is for

  • Creating accurate time standards fast – and in advance – for labor costing, production planning and work loading and incentive and piece rate systems
  • Continuous methods development and efficient job training.

SSD is fast and easy to learn and to use:

  • Straight forward user interface i.e. a no-many-menu program
  • Element matrixes guide the user
  • An element is picked with one mouse click form Element matrix images
  • No codes to be remembered
  • Use of sub methods (macros) and basic methods – one-minute sewing can be analyzed in a few minutes

STANDARD TIMES AND METHODS DEVELOPMENT

One first clicks the element group (left of the window) and then clicks the element button with distances and variables. Then – if needed – he adds comments and other data to the method row.

ACCURATE TIME STANDARDS

The SSD-5 contains three standard data sets – SSD for sewing, SWD (Standard Work Data) for any manual or tool assisted operation and SFD (Standard Finishing Data) for finishing of garments. This is why SSD can also be used in cutting, finishing and packing etc.

The element groups are:

Standard Sewing Data Standard Work Data Standard Finishing Data
  • Pick up (Pick Up & Position)
  • Position
  • Handling
  • Sewing
  • Scissors / Snippers
  • Dispose
  • Get and Put elements
  • Write, Print, Read…etc
  • Hand movements
  • Move, Walk, Carry…etc
  • Tool handling (optional)
  • Machine elements
  • Get and Position for Ironing and Pressing
  • Finishing
  • Handling in Finishing
  • Dispose

One can add videos to methods and study them on the methods screen. This is a perfect way to improve method documentation and job training.
The system also has video clips of each SSD element. This makes learning the system fast

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND OPERATION LISTS

The operation lists are summaries of all operations of a product or style. The Operation List of SSD with many options serves also as a product data manager.

The SSD thus creates automatically operations in the Methods Development. Operation list of a style will be assembled using these operations. Usage of the component option will make the operation list creation fast.

The operation list can be transferred to the company’s data system and it will be used in the other SSD programs: Line Balancing, Work Loading, Product Costing and Bar-Code Production Analysis.

TRAINING, CUSTOMISATION AND INSTALLATION

Each SSD installation is customized to suit to the customer’s product, production and other needs. The customization includes creation of customer’s coding systems, installation of special machine elements and other special features. Usually this is done at the customer in the beginning of the training. The training period usually will be followed by second training period at the customer and after that by remote (money saving!) training over the web.
